The Story of
the Proposal

Matt proprosed on Yana's birthday — January 15th, 2015.

Yana and Matt went to dinner that night with her parents at a steakhouse in Denver. Nothing was out of the ordinary. Matt was constantly checking his phone, but since he sometimes has work issues to keep track of, it wasn't strange.

Yana didn't know that Matt was checking on progress with two of their friends (Amber and Dave) who swooped in while they were out of the house to set up a surprise!

When Matt and Yana arrived home, they walked in to see dimmed lights, a trail of rose petals leading into the living room, LED candles, rose vases on every surface, and a bottle of champagne on ice (along with a cake and some other dessert goodies!) Yana was completely oblivious, thinking it was still part of her birthday celebration.

Yana was surprised (to say the least) when Matt got down on one knee, and proposed to her in Russian. Despite having talked about marriage for a long time during their 4 years together, Matt was still incredibly nervous and shaking, and looked like he was about to burst into tears. Once Yana was able to get past the deluge of emotions, of course she said YES! They popped the champagne to celebrate, and indulged in the custom-made cake (a fun-bun and cuddle-bug — their nicknames for each other), before sharing the joyous news with friends and family.

Miscellaneous Info

WEATHER
Early October in Colorado is typically pretty warm, with evenings being much chillier. Even though the reception is indoors, it would be smart to bring a shawl or light jacket.

Check the forecast here once close to the date of the event.
ATTIRE
Formal to semiformal. The ceremony will be outdoors on a lawn, and the parking lot is unpaved (so ladies, bring a pair of flats if you're wearing high heels — and so you're comfortable for dancing!)
GETTING THERE
It takes a MINIMUM of 30 minutes to get from Boulder to Lyons, and about 20 minutes from Longmont — give yourself plenty of time to get there, since traffic can be bad on mountain roads during the weekend.

Additionally, we will have shuttle service (provided by Ramblin Express) between the venue and Springhill Suites in Longmont. If you'd like to take the shuttle, it will arrive at 3:45PM and continue service to and from the venue until 11:45PM. The shuttles will leave for the venue at 4:15PM.
RECEPTION
Open bar (yay!) with wine, liquor, beer, and non-alcoholic options as well.

There will be passed appetizers during the cocktail hour, and a buffet-style dinner will be served after.

PARKING
Look for Lionscrest Manor employees once you drive up the mountain, they will direct you to a parking spot in the lot. There is no charge for parking.
AFTER-PARTY
We will have the venue until 11pm. For those guests that want to party late into the night, Oskar Blues Home Made Liquids & Solids is located just across the street from Springhill Suites in Longmont.
LODGING
We have a block at SpringHill Suites by Marriott Boulder/Longmont at a rate of $139/night for the nights of 10/6-10/8, for reservations made prior to 9/6/2016. Reservations can be made by calling 303.682.2894 or 800.927.4595. Please reference the Gimlin/Duday wedding.

Other hotels in the area include:
AROUND TOWN
We encourage you to check out some of our favorite Boulder spots if you have the chance!
  • Breakfast: Lucile's (amazing Cajun food - try the beignets!)
  • Lunch/Dinner: The Mediterranean ("The Med") has great tapas, wine, and food.
~ Mountain Sun is a local favorite and has great beer and burgers.
~ The Rio really hits the spot for that Mexican food craving, and the margaritas are killer!
  • Entertainment: Press Play is an arcade bar that has something for everyone (Yana loves the Giant Janga!)
~ Find a show at the Fiske Planetarium - not your average planetarium (the set-up is high-tech, and super impressive).
~ Go on a tour of the Celestial Seasonings Tea factory - a must-do for any Boulder visitor (and for anybody who loves tea).
~ Hike Chautauqua - trails for all levels of fitness, and offers beautiful views of Boulder and the mountains.
